Associate Pastor Tim Butler

Pastor Tim was born and raised in West Virginia and has been living in the Inwood area most of his life.  Pastor Tim attended Shepherd College in nearby Shepherdstown, WV.  He eaned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Broadcast Journalism/History.  His early work included everything from house painting to being a news anchor and talk show host at a local radio station.  He covered college and high school sports on the radio and in the local newspaper.

He came to know Christ as his Savior in 1984 during a cross country road trip and began attending FBC shortly thereafter.  He began his ministry at the church by teaching Sunday School and was licensed to preach in 1986.  His responsibilities grew as he began to serve as Bus Pastor for the transportation ministry.  In May of 1989, Pastor Tim was brought on board as a full-time assistant pastor.  Pastor Tim met his future wife, Colleen, while attending services here at First Baptist.  They were married in 1987.  They have three children: Brooke (a junior at Patrick Henry College in Purcellville, VA), Cherie (a freshman at Shepherd University) and Jordan (a sophomore at Musselman High School).  Pastor Tim now oversees the “REACH” ministry, the church outreach ministry and works with HeBrews (the college and career group). He also performs many other pastoral duties.

His favorite Bible verse is Ephesians 2:8,9 "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast."
