Cornerstone “IDP Soap/Vaseline”

Special Christmas Offering

Overview:
In reviewing FBC’s Newsletter this month, Pastor Devin reminds us that although there will not be a Chest of Joash offering this year, we should consider giving a Christmas offering to a special project.

Through email conversations with Pastor Jim, he mentioned the Displaced Person’s Camp nearby RVA, where there are many less fortunate and suffering people, specifically:

·        To these people, food is the first thing they buy for their families, and caring for their external bodies cannot be their first priority.

·        Pastor Jim recommended that support can be used for purchasing soap to not only clean themselves, but to wash clothes and care for their children.

·        Additionally, because the valley is so hot and these people work so hard, their hands, feet, and lips are incredibly chapped. Vaseline is the preferred product as it’s economical and used by the locals.

·        It would be a nicety to provide sweets to the children as toys and stuffed animals are not practical for their situation.

How You Can Help:
Consider giving a special Christmas offering to fulfill basic needs for these hurting people:
·      If the Lord has laid this burden on your heart, please utilize the offering envelopes, mark as missions funding, and write in big letters: IDP Soap/Vaseline offering

To these displaced folks, this would be a tangible showing of God’s love and how God’s family can join together to help those in need.
